Frances H (gb) wrote: What makes Oranges and Sunshine a good movie is that is exposes the cruel forced transportation of 130,000 children from the ages of 5-12 eight thousand miles from parents who were told that they had been adopted to good families and the children were told their parents were dead, when neither was true. The children were used as forced labor and both physically and sexually abused. What makes this a horror story is that these children came not from Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia, but Great Britain, the first country to pass child labor laws in the 19th century. What makes Oranges and Sunshine a great film is the restrained, dignified telling of the story without the melodrama and pathos into which it could have so easily degenerated. For this minor miracle, we have to thank an excellent director and cast and a great script. And all of us who have seen this movie do so thank you.

Original, and catchy it's a premise that if you connect you'll stay with for 4 hours. I was hooked early and the near two hour runtime flew by. Final Score: 10/10

Amanda V (br) wrote: Excellent movie! Lewis goes about changing 12 of the baddest kids in Lincoln High (Miami) into disciplined kids. How he does it is entertaining, and humorous- he teaches them a form of karate, which has another name in Portuguese. Watching the kids make something of themselves is a great thing to watch! The main teenage character is a good actor, something that is lacking in the movie industry today.

Jennifer R (ru) wrote: This was thoughtful and well done, but I felt this movie was too unrealistic. Worth watching, but it's a fairly whitewashed depiction of heroin addiction. Then again, who would watch it if it wasn't?

Emily D (nl) wrote: Cute romantic comedy. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it by the end, but the film really sold me with it's main message of "Spending all your time worrying you're out of someone's league is what makes you unattractive. If someone says they like you believe them and enjoy their company. Don't ruin it by being insecure". Plus I love Krysten Ritter, even though she's not in it much. And I'm glad they didn't make her character hook up with the guy's best friend, because that's overdone.
