Faisal A (ca) wrote: This was a really cute, fun little movie. A simple premise, where two old dogs meet up after one of them, Val, gets out of prison after a long stay. His best friend, Doc, is tasked by a mobster to kill Val or he will face the consequences. Its a cool 24-hour day film, much akin to "Clerks" (1994), "La Haine" (1995) and "Dredd" (2012), where characters' histories and personalities come into play neatly. I really enjoyed this movie, moreso than the critical consensus would lead one to believe. Walken, Pacino and Arkin are great, and I would have loved to have seen more of their conversations in the film.

The reality check changes him, probably for the better, at least that's what the movie would want you to believe right? It's a good film and there's plenty of things to like about it. It's not one I'll want to fire up every weekend but for casual viewing it does just fine. As a film released right around the time that advertising was changing precisely as depicted, it seems very timely.

Moya W (mx) wrote: The only reason this movie received four stars and not five is because this movie had too many twist and turns, one minute you think something is going to happen and the next you see something else on the screen, occasionally the sharp editing and quick-fire dialogue left the viewer bemused, and struggling to grasp the overall plot. Don't get me wrong, the acting was outstanding from Reese Witherspoon, Alessandro Nivola, and I guess Josh Brolin passes. Even though the sharp editing and the quick-fire dialogue makes you wonder what the hell is going on, and it might not make that much sense, I was still hugely hooked to the screen.

Scott M (au) wrote: This has 'women's film' stamped all over it. The performances were good. Still, for anyone who has seen their share of films about terminal illnesses, this seems to be derivative, too,

Cole B (es) wrote: A movie about two children, a brother and sister, and their love for one another that is tender without being sappy.

Donna D (it) wrote: Its a good movie. Great story with an awesome film score by Danny Elfman. Clive Barker movies are the best.

Caleb R (nl) wrote: While the stories are fairly standard, I'd argue that this is one of the best executions of found footage to ever come from the horror genre, with dynamic, realistic and non overwhelming cinematography and logical justifications for why the characters would bother to have cameras.
