Darren W (gb) wrote: A sweet cynical and touching tale about the pragmatic search for love against the economic upheavals of the time.

April N (us) wrote: Marc Anthony gave a stellar performance. I have been a fan of his for a while. The movie is about the life of Hector Lavoe (Marc Anthony) from the point of view of his wife Puchi (Jennifer Lopez). The musical numbers are beautifully shot and edited. Marc was very instinctive and laid-back with his acting approach, but it worked wonders. The singing/concert scenes just seemed to validate his superb talents as a singer in his own right even more.

John C (de) wrote: A satirical, political comedy filled with clever plot twists and fantastic acting.

Berni E (au) wrote: Nostalgic evening, reminiscing and watching this great film!

John H (jp) wrote: I kept seeing words in reviews for this movie, such as "disturbing," "bleak," and "grisly." I would change those words to "boring," "confusing," and "pointless." Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Saoirse M (de) wrote: Was kind of funny but of course predictable. Not much for character development but what do you expect from a Saturday night live style comedy.

Andrew B (fr) wrote: A better lead actor to go alongside a great performance by Michael Douglas would have helped propel this movie into something great. I understand Charlie Sheen was a popular young actor in the 1980's but honestly, he is just not that good and frankly is poor in this movie. The only thing that makes this movie worth watching is Michael Douglas' portrayal of Wall Street mogul Gordon Gecko, a cutthroat vicious businessman who embodies everything the "blue collar working man" hates. A somewhat good concept, but overall a film you should not go out of your way to see.

Lourdes T (br) wrote: It's about pain in it's purest form. Only those who has had a lifetime of pain in a emotional, spiritual and physical sense can appreciate (not necessarily condone) this film and Nana's experience.
