(es) wrote: Michael Collins is s standard biopic. I watched it for the cast and because its a Neil Jordan film. Its a very standard action period piece in the vein of Braveheart. The action scenes are quick and realistic, almost rushed as is the story. Its almost like it keep trucking along because it has to, and it eventually fizzles out.
(au) wrote: John Travolta, Forest Whitaker, Kyra Sedgwick and Robert Duvall head up one of the more heartwarming of this genre (just short of Flowers for Algeron) wherein a regular guy suddenly finds himself invested with superior mental prowess. It gets slow right before the end but damned if I didn't forgive it for doing so due to the excellent handling of the material by all involved.

The gangsters he stopped are still bent on revenge, and on top of that, extortionists bomb public places to make matters even worse. He must deal with his girlfriend, who has difficulties accepting his job, as well, which only makes things more intriguing when she gets kidnapped. A sequel just as good as its incendiary predecessor.

What I didn't expect was the lack of swearing in the movie. I can only remember a handful of expletives. For someone like me, I appreciate watching movies like this. Knight & Day made me smile, and that gives it a 3.5 out if 5 for me.
