Keenan S (fr) wrote: A Tale Of Two Sisters is a brilliant marriage of psychological horror and a twisted fairy tale. The story on paper is simple: two sisters return home to their father and stepmother after being in a mental institution and the sisters' conflict with their peculiar stepmother. Strange things begin to happen around the house and the conflict between the sisters and stepmother escalates, while the sisters struggle with strange and disturbing visions. Simple enough, right? Wrong. A Tale Of Two Sisters achieves exactly what a psychological horror film aims to do: fuck with the viewer's mind. Even with familiar twists, the film feels fresh and frightening as it puts its own spin on old ideas. However, it is much more than a psychological horror film, but it also works as a superb family drama. It's a brilliantly written, terrifying, superbly acted, and engrossing film in every way. I can't recommend it enough to any horror fan.
