Using real people and events based on the opening moves of the Battle of P'ohang-dong, the film exposes the personal and physical conflicts that these students faced when finding themselves on the last line of defense at P'ohang-dong Girl's Middle School against the NKPA's advancement, needing to hold out until back up from other Korean troops and the Allies arrived.

When I found out they were releasing it in US theaters, I got a really sick feeling. This is one of those "Direct to Video" movies. You can tell they were working on a budget. Even when I saw it as an independent zombie movie, I wouldn't have called it good. :::::::::::::::SPOILERS (?)::::::::::::::::This is not particularly a zombie movie. Yes, it has zombies in it, and yes, many of those zombies are at the forefront...for a while. I was with the movie when it was a semi-creepy zombie movie. HOWEVER, before too long, it ends up being a Sci-Fi alien invasion movie which completely ruins the zombie apocalypse premise. These aren't like "Independence Day" invasion aliens, these aren't that fun, and they aren't that threatening. To put things in perspective: think Men In Black II. Now think how cheesy those aliens were, take away their entertaining qualities, give them the typical redneck "I got abducted" story and you get the aliens. The zombies are just as cheesy, and can be cut in half with a "Club" steering wheel lock (?!?). Try to pretend it's serious, and you get Undead. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: If one were to remove the Sci-Fi aspect, this would have been one of the best recent zombie movies. Many will call this an "interesting take" where it really is just a movie who doesn't know what it is. In the end, it's bad. The redeeming qualities are very few. Yes, it can be mildly humorous, but the constant overacting (and lack of acting), over the top action fare (tripple shotgun anyone?), cheesy effects, and the way it doesn't quite suspend you in disbelief. These things bring the movie down a lot. I accepted them when it was a cheesy Australian indie zombie flick, but now that it's gone international, I don't think this bird has big enough wings to fly. My rating goes like this 4/5 for the first half, 1/5 for the last. Adds up to 5/10. And that's me being gratious.
