(kr) wrote: "Killer Joe" tries to be a funny and gritty black comedy, and while the writing can be clever, the supporting cast give such mediocre performances that almost none of the line delivery works. In addition to that, the third act becomes a tasteless and vile exercise whose sole purpose is to be as gross as possible. Cup that with the half-baked ending, and you have yourself a sleazy Oliver Stone knock-off that fails to be entertaining on any level despite the fact that McConaughey captures his role well.

That could have been intended, though, since they were drug scenes; maybe the intent was suspended animation. Either way, it got old after awhile. The film didn't really need to be 2.5 hours long.
