Dann M (br) wrote: Emily Blunt stars in the British coming-of-age drama My Summer of Love. Loosely inspired by the novel of the same name, a working class girl named Mona, who feels alienated by her brother's recent conversion to religion, befriends a rich girl named Tamsin who opens her up to art and culture. Blunt gives a strong performance, but her co-stars don't bring much to the table. Also, the script is rather unfocused, and doesn't seem to know where its going half the time (especially given the final twist). My Summer of Love is a rather typical rich/poor relationship film, except that it lacks a point.

katarakt k (gb) wrote: The only reason I've watched it is i'm a fan of William Gibson. The only reason I've managed to watch it to the end is i'm a BIG fan of William Gibson. The only reason it got 2.5 stars from me is excellent acting from Walken and Dafoe (and a nice 2-minute long supporting role by Annabella Sciorra). The rest of this mess of a movie is simply horrible.

Yes the dialogue is a bit lame and some of the acting is a bit off-par but overall I like it. I've shown this movie to a few mates of mine who said if it was remade today with a better director and had better effects then people would love it.
Conrad S (au) wrote: It's ok. There really isn't much else to say. The acting is perfectly ok, as good as the original. The story is very one-note and simple, showing that the film knows what it is. The visuals are impressive, the airplane scene is genuinely tense, making up for the underwhelming climax. No character really goes through an arc, aside from Lois, whose choices and arc I don't agree with. Bryan Singer also has a talent with bold characters, as Lex Luthor is by far the best character. While his plan may be boring, and make no sense, Kevin Spacey gives a wonderfully intense performance, channeling everything that makes Lex Luthor, Lex Luthor. Superman may not be super, but at least it's not terrible.
