This is what American cartoons should be and it is way better than the critics said. It is not a kids show and should not treated as such, it should be treated on the same level as some of the recent comic book adaptions movies and stuff like Pacific Rim.

As far as the story is concerned, nothing new for the dystopia crowd. Same ol' same ol'. Just the same ol' depressing, nothingness of the post-apocalypse world. Do we learn anything with the typical interaction between man and automaton? No. I started watching this one night and forgot I had been watching it until a few days later when I sat down to watch a movie remembering I hadn't finished this one. By tomorrow I'll have forgotten it again, no doubt.

The part at the end when Sanjana is chasing Monica with a knife and Monica is on her knees, crawling made me laugh out loud. Why in the world would you be crawling on the floor if someone's after you with a knife? No, I think most people would be on their feet running as fast as they can. I did see glimpses of good acting by Meghna Naidu but most of it is bad but as I said it's ok since this is so bad that it becames good.

(br) wrote: I downloaded this by accident and I am happy to find out that this was a surprisingly good film! All the actors played very well and the story was very interesting and engaging. It balanced a a large vareity of different types of scenes and moods very well together. Essentially it took you on that little trip called "life".I guess the moral here would be that: Change can happen at any moment and although it may be met with hostility, the way it is handled overall is what determines the recipients feelings to its initiator.

(gb) wrote: idk maybe partial bias cuz i loved it so much in high school. Just watched it and it holds up still. Raw in pieces but the horrible rap acting is well put together by hype Williams.

(br) wrote: Outside of Robert Downey Jr.'s great performance, there wasn't a lot to love. It's an extremely dark storyline, yet it's directed as if a music video.
(ru) wrote: One of the most notorious, controversial and critically acclaimed films to have come out of Brazil. Hctor Babenco's gritty and depressing look at street delinquents on the streets of So Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, seen through the eyes of one young boy. The boy in question is Pixote (Fernando Ramos Da Silva), who has been picked up by police in regard to a robbery, and he's sent with several other kids to a form of borstal, which is in place to rehabilitate kids, but there isn't much of that going on in a place like that. After the guards frame a couple of the streetkids there with a murder, Pixote and several other kids, Lilica (Jorge Julio) and Dito (Gilberto Moura) end up back on the streets doing drug deals and they eventually end up in Rio. and they find themselves as pimps for aging, poorly prostitute Sueli (Marlia Pra), who becomes a mother like figure to the boys, but happiness doesn't last. It's a very grim and harsh view of a very real situation, and even 30 years on, it's still going on today. The film serves as an indictment of a failing system. It helped Babenco get to Hollywood and make films like Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985) and Ironweed (1987), but neither of those were as good as this film.

The film will probably be best known for Bob Hoskins star making performance, but it's skillfully directed, and it's social commentary was particularly ballsy for the time. The pacing isn't perfect, but fans of the genre are well advised to check this out.

(au) wrote: Wonderful independent film based on the story of the writer/director Maya Forbes growing-up with a bi-polar father. The film is an interesting look at what it's like living with someone who's manic-depressive, and Mark Ruffalo does a tremendous job with the character. Zoe Saldana is also excellent, as are the children, one of whom is the daughter of the director. Definitely worth checking out.
