Jack P (mx) wrote: There's no really good point about this film. So let's start with the good news A very poor movie! Now the bad, poor acting and story line. I knew the movie was gonna be bad when I read the plot. I mean a mutated bear! Also the story was shocking, from a bear surviving a raging fire to thunder & lightning which had no rain! Poor visual effects. Overall I wouldn't recommend wasting your time watching this film.

Timothy S (fr) wrote: The makers of "Disaster Zone" were smart enough to distance their pathetic made-for-television movie from two two big-budgeted theatrical volcano movies from about a decade ago, but the film is still an obvious rip-off of the Tommy Lee Jones starrer "Volcano". Substitute New York for Los Angeles and subtract all of the talent in front of and behind the camera and the films are virtually identical. The special effects are sparse, which is probably a good thing since they're so amateurish, and the script is very rudimentary. Forgoing the Mother Nature explanation of the previous lava epics, the screenwriters have come up with this silly mad scientist plot that just doesn't work. Making matters even worse, the scientist is played by a haggard-looking Michael Ironside, proving that his villainous days are surely behind him. Even worse is Costas Mandylor, totally monotone and completely without personality, in the lead role. His shot at big movie stardom lasted one movie in 1991, and when "Mobsters" tanked, so did his career. You'd think he'd at least show some life in just just because he's grateful to be working at all, but no such luck. The movie plods along at a snail's pace, and it takes itself so seriously that it isn't even fun as a guilty pleasure. It's just dull, boring and unpleasant to look at. It's poorly cast, poorly written and lazy. "Disaster Zone" is a TV-movie but that isn't an excuse to not even try. It's a pale imitation of a lot of other better movies, and there's no reason to watch it.

Phil H (gb) wrote: Look at the poster for this film, its damn cool with a really hot barbarian female, aggressive and looks like some old Amiga computer game box art. Remember the old classic computer game 'Barbarian'? I wonder if they got their box art ideas from these films and the poster art?. Now I look even the font on the text is similar for both, curious. Now watch the film and you notice some slight differences with what you may have been expecting. Not that you really should be expecting much with this franchise. The cheap cheap low budget sequel to the first film really does earn the label of B-movie in every aspect. The first film was reasonable but this is dire. The main lead looks the part but acts like a buffoon in lame attempts of badly executed humour. The continuity is gone as 'Deathstalker' is now a different younger actor, not that continuity was probably high on the directors list...or your expectation list either. As before there are plenty of topless females running around, this is fine hehe, its just a shame they are all running the flimsiest sets you have ever seen. The comedy is in watching the bad acting against the homemade sets, just like good old Ed Wood. Of course you can't really knock such a film as it was never meant to be a serious major production, although there is care involved clearly. Its nowhere near as good as the first and that was average at best, they actually use many old clips from the first film to flesh out this one. Bad move when you see the characters from the first film, ones that were killed even, errr did anyone check that?.

Pam E (de) wrote: Its a goofy ski movie of course I loved it

Wes S (jp) wrote: Rushed thin story that doesn't stop to breath, most of the jokes don't work, and many of the characters are a bit too annoying- yet it does tend to have a nice charm to the film and some deeper meanings. Overall it's for the kids, mostly noise, and mindless- but it maintains a fun cartoon feel.

Kyle K (ag) wrote: Not bad enough to be good, but bad enough to be boring.

Michael M (ru) wrote: Not much of a movie. More like a travel advisory warning and one of the main reasons you won't catch me Scuba diving. At least they squeeze a topless scene into the 79 minute running time.
