Dr. Matthew Clark is the head of a state institution for mentally retarded children. Jean Hansen, a former music teacher anxious to give her life some meaning, joins the staff of the hospital. Jean, who tries to shelter the children with her love, suspiciously regards Clark's stern training methods. She becomes emotionally involved with 12-year-old Reuben Widdicombe, who has been abandoned by his divorced parents.

"La Otra Familia" (Loza, 2011) vale la pena porque aborda con candidez un tema social de importancia y del que se platica mucho, pero se actua poco: la adopcion en Mexico. Es una novela contada en casi dos horas, e incluye una excelente actuacion de Nailea Norvind (como siempre), y Bruno Loza, como el pequeno Hendrik, que se roba cada escena en la que aparece. Episodica, concreta (aunque con algunas lagunas en el guion), pero efectiva en sus partes dramaticas y comicas, estas ultimas gracias a Silverio Palacios y Carmen Salinas. Ellen Page shines as does the rest of the cast. The music and settings are a little too quirky, but I felt Reitman adapted Diablo Cody's screenplay onto the screen very well.
