(br) wrote: the book was so much better and more put together. meg cabot had everything perfectly balanced out in her book but in the movie some changes were made that completely threw all the clues and foreshadowing off track.
(kr) wrote: A aside from a few inspired moments, this is badly acted unfunny, unpleasant shit, filled with obnoxious characters.
(fr) wrote: This is not a good movie.
(ca) wrote: The only horror movie I'm aware of set during the Vietnam War, about Korean soldiers on an isolated island subject to all kinds of strange and inexplicable goings-on. After murdering a Vietnamese girl, Lt. Choi is "forgiven" and for his sins, sent on a mission to R-Point, after radio transmissions were picked up from soldiers who disappeared there six months ago (the transmissions consist of the message, "we are all going to die", which you'd think would be a red flag). Choi and his squad of volunteers, tasked with finding the soldiers, arrive and almost immediately bad things start to happen, involving ambushes, ghosts, an abandoned French plantation, madness, possession, a fallen temple, disappearing soldiers, a lake filled with dead Vietnamese killed centuries ago, the Vietcong, more ghosts, and all manner of general unpleasantness that would certainly prevent it from having its own Travel Channel special. Suitably creepy and spooky, "R-Point" is a solid little horror movie with atmosphere to spare. Not particularly gory, either. Me likey. Woodchuck sez, "Check it out."
(au) wrote: I thought it was very silly - but the kids loved it and laughed like crazy so it got 4 instead of 3 - just for that. Jacques even got emotional at the end.
(fr) wrote: The cinematography made me cringe, and not in a good way. Not to mention the script was poorly done.
(gb) wrote: This is just the point of the iceberg. Consent will lead to a better new world domination by the ones that owe each and every single puppet-president in the world.
(gb) wrote: How do I even have this movie??? I thought it was funny and again, exists during the golden years of the 80s so therefore a classic for all times.
(jp) wrote: It's very queer but still watchable
(ag) wrote: Goofy Elvis vehicle still ends up being a lot of fun.
(it) wrote: One of the most brutal noirs of the era. Montgomery was pretty fearless as a director.
(ag) wrote: Startling 'B' movie, with some okay acting all round and some stunning visuals considering the low budget - particularly the long dream sequence. The subvocal speech/subconscious narration is also inspired - and Peter Lorre's demented though sympathetic killer is sinister perfection. A rewarding film.
(ag) wrote: Besides the performances, the epic scope that it was aiming for is never achieved and leaves little desired. But mostly you'll be seeing characters disappear for no discernable reason.
(ru) wrote: Funny, but I didn't like the language and naked bodies thrown around.
(br) wrote: i love the collagework on the walls!! i reminds me of my old house in london! i love it!! apart from that, it is still an amazing movie. but the collagework is even more amazing!! it's definitely one of my favourite oldman movies, before he turned to histrionics. and i love the story, so decadent. well worth a watch.
