A Fly in the Champagne
After a decade of bitter rival status, Kelly Slater and Andy Irons come together to surf off their differences! To get two seemingly mortal enemies to agree to sequester themselves on a tiny island with a half dozen camera men, a Hollywood interviewer capable of conjuring up tears during any interview, and an in-the-know magazine staff waiting with bated breath seemed like a ridiculous notion. The end result was a ten day purge of feelings, emotional baggage, dispelling rumors, talking it out, and a burying of the hatchet once and for all. Oh, and we forgot to mention that the waves were insane! Check out the documentary of two of the best surfers and biggest rivals of our sport battle it out in an epic boat trip in Indonesia.

The film is about an experiment and as the movie goes on things become stranger but in a good way. It feels like watching the Adjustment Bureau. The ending is a bit odd as it leaves you with questions you want answered.
(es) wrote: An uneven documentary, perhaps, but spearheaded mostly by informed women who make their point well: The Komen pink ribbon campaign has morphed into little more than a profit-making gimmick for corporations and a source of gluttonous salaries for Komen executives. Example: Research reveals that female workers in certain production areas of the automotive industry are at a much higher risk for breast cancer, yet Komen partners with Ford to issue a black Mustang with pink striping and logos. Example: Cosmetics companies vend products containing various known carcinogens-with pink ribbon logos on the boxes. Example: Komen funds little research into a variety of highly-suspected environmental risks because it would conflict with the profit-maximization objectives of the corporations with which it partners. Example: A woman points out that lighting Niagara Falls in pink for 24 hours might make women feel good, but what does that accomplish in terms of actual change? Again, the documentary is uneven, but it contains a number of such insightful nuggets that reveal the public's pink ribbon obsession for what it really is--entirely misguided.

(jp) wrote: Hmm....I wasn't sure with this one. Visually it was great...but it was very slow. The story was kinda weird too, and not all that deep. Slightly disappointing.
(gb) wrote: Seriously very deep story line with warping story could have been made far better than expected
(es) wrote: If someone made a movie about a groaning man who masturbates all the time and runs around the city half naked, that would be just plain disgusting, but if you have a girl doing that it's suddenly ok and even almost mainstream movie..? dubbing spoiled the rest of the movie had to "offer".

This film is so far one of the most entertaining Val Kilmer has ever done througout his career!! Echoes alot of teen feel good films during the 80's- I have to say this one is one of the best during that era!! 3.5 out of 4
(jp) wrote: A terrible, useless sequel that invests in mindless gore instead of creating any real tension, and it is ridiculous (and disappointing) how it turns Michael Myers into an indestructible monster and leaves the rest of the cast to be mere bodies for slaughter.

(gb) wrote: They don't make movies like this anymore. A good warm hearted story. One of my favourite Nicholas Cage performances.
(nl) wrote: Pretty shitty. Hands down the worst Hitchcock film I've ever seen, and just a terrible film in general.
(nl) wrote: I found the movie extremely intelligent and stimulating. The idea is maybe so actual to be cheap, but it is treated with some originality and sensitivity. Main problem for me were the thousand soap-opera-like (teacher and abandoned wife and only in the end you find out who she is) subplots...
