Niloo R (ca) wrote: some moving moments and some fantastic wisdom not only from the main subjects, but from unexpected sources as well. as a film though it was rather monotonous, because the filmmaker didn't really have an aim with what she was filming - just shot some footage and arranged them in sequence. there wasn't any drive and visually there was a lot of repetition. regardless, it was still interesting to get a glimpse inside studio ghibli and japanese culture.

Steven G (ru) wrote: A 3-minute youtube video has much smarter things to say about the Twilight franchise than this witless film could muster in its 70-something minute running time. Crude, forced, and unfunny. The only thing the film does right is casting actors for Edward and Jacob who are actually hotter than the real actors who play them.

Laara C (ag) wrote: I actually enjoyed this movie and most of his movies are not that great but the plot on this one is good.

Deborah H (it) wrote: It was an ok movie, did make me jump a few times. Great for a rainy day, plot very easy to figure out! Thats the problem with this movie.

Right out of the gate I was sucked in. It reminded me of "The Ox-Bow Incident", another black and white western classic. A couple well-known actors. A unique and meaningful story presented in an equally unique and meaningful way. Midway through, a little bad acting combined with some poor special effects tempered my enthusiasm a bit, but I will no doubt be watching this movie again, if not acquiring it for my collection. I'll have to research how was received when released in 1964? Have a strong desire to know more about this film which is a good thing. And, I'll likely watch this "Rashomon" now. Just have to know.

RiP M (gb) wrote: Minor Mel Brooks work, certainly not my favorite by any means. Once again, Peter O'Toole rises above his material but there's nothing else to recommend this.

Alberto A (kr) wrote: This musical it's not the typical one where "they just sing for no reason". This musical represents an entire generation and an entire movement who wanted to make a change to reality. Hair has amazing characters, great songs and it can be very funny for some and it reveals the true nature of the Hippie movement during the drafting of the Vietnam War.

Martin T (nl) wrote: Normally, I wouldn't be caught dead watching a 3 hour movie about sports. But for Ichikawa, I make an exception. I was kind of dreading it, but I got sucked in. Ichikawa infuses this movie with lots of style. Each sequence is different, and the choices he makes are surprising and excellent. A few parts drag, but most of it is really nice, even moving at times. Although it tends to highlight Japan's triumphs, it's fairly even-handed.

Cameron J (de) wrote: Notable for being one of the first films for both Mae West (who wrote it), and Cary Grant, but it's mainly a vanity project for the admittedly confident and ahead-of-her-time West, who is too old for the part and overplays it with droll inflections on each of her words. The plot, about a crime ring who West is involved with that Grant is investigating, is inconsequential, and really an excuse to see West seduce and get seduced by a string of men and sing horrendously. Ahead of its time in a few good ways, but also in a few bad ways, this is one of the first true vanity movies.
