A Man Vanishes

A Man Vanishes examines the concept of Johatsu, tackling the phenomenon of people missing in Japan over the years. It picks one such person from the list, someone who had seemed to disappear from the face of the earth due to embezzlement from his company, and the filmmakers begin an investigative documentary into the reasons behind and attempt at tracking him down.

Documentary by Shohei Imamura about a man who vanishes...but the more the director investigates, the less 'real' it all seems. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Ryan R (es) wrote: It's well worth a watch. You can feel the connection between Jenifer Aniston and Mark Wahlberg. The music is great, and you get a real good feel for what the 80's were actually like.

Christopher B (au) wrote: Just what you'd expect from an 80's Golan-Globus production featuring a sword wielding chick that rocks jazzercize like a pro. Watch the filler scenes to see just what the director & writers actually had on their minds.

Aj V (de) wrote: This movie is reminiscent of Voyage to the Bottom of the sea mostly because of the cast and because of the theme and plot. I liked this movie better, it's more exciting, but still it's not a great movie.

For what the movie is trying to achieve, a blend of horror and comedy that pays tribute to films of the 50's and 60's, it is perfection. You don't even need to like the genre to enjoy this, it's just good silly fun!- I have now watched this film countless times, it's one of my all-time faves. I watched the "Director's Cut" which is the longest at 96mins and features an alternate ending from the Theatrical version. Just a great and entertaining film! - Just watched this yet again. This is one movie I never get sick of watching which is rare...it's such a gem. Give it a try if you've never seen it.- I have probably seen this at least 10 times now, I never get tired of it and laugh out loud every time. I LOVE this movie! I truly wish there were more films like this. This is a must watch!- Just watched the Director's cut, this film is pure entertainment. One of the most easily re-watchable films I have ever seen, a true classic.- Just watched this as the first half of an a "Wright Stuff" Bill Pope double-bill with Edgar Wright presenting it with D.O.P. Bill Pope in attendance. It was great to see it with an audience for the first time and to hear Pope tell behind the scenes stories of how things were done. The film gets better with each viewing and the more crude special effects have a timeless appeal. It you haven't scene this one, go get it now...

Tatsuhito K (jp) wrote: Funny, thoughtful, naturalistic, and hugely engaging, the landscapes are beautifully shot and it is anchored by three wonderful performances. Your Sister's Sister is an excellent character study.

Paul C (it) wrote: Nice use of the creepy fairy legends of the past but this is a bit of a slow starter that doesn't do anything particularly new. Good effects though and no one can turn down a film with a flaming scythe in it.
