(ru) wrote: another huge mess of a film that I couldn't get into. I decided to check it out due to it's great cast, which again is a lot of wasted great talent here. Too bad, really.

(ru) wrote: A sharp black comedy-thriller with some good performances and a killer story and dialogue. Let down by a rushed ending and somewhat choppy editing and cinematography.

The equally gracefully aged Redford's warm underplaying in the lead (echoing earlier caper movies such as "The Hot Rock") is effective and helps to ground the team, and who would you rather have as the baldy villain than a pre-'Sir' Ben Kingsley?
(us) wrote: Stripping a girl in this film was unnecessary, I am afraid.
(es) wrote: Toshiro Mifune, who typically is pure Id, plays a man 30 years older than his actual age and manages to pull it off okay. The plot is great, but it's one of Kurosawa's technically weaker films.
(au) wrote: It tried to be both comedy and romance but failed in both. Not particularly funny and I would class it as watchable rubbish.
(au) wrote: Very disjointed and not particularly funny. It's like they didn't want to cut any scenes so they shortened them all.
(de) wrote: I personally find the show much superior to this oddly entertaining but insignificant (and brutal) comedy of errors.
