Larry W (jp) wrote: Such a delicious Peter O'Toole performance, Oscar-worthy (an nominated - but lost to Ben Kingsly for "Ghandi" so that's OK). The rest of the actors are so well cast and the script is bright and funny and just delightful. This movie is simply comfort food.
K M (mx) wrote: Downtown '81, the "lost film", is footage of a day in the life of Jean-Michel Basquiat. That is enough for it to be enjoyable for me; bonuses include the musicians showcased, New York in the '80s, and Saul Williams narrating. There might be valid criticisms out there about the added sound, synchronization, "plot" - but I don't care about any of that in this case. Although, I might have enjoyed it more without the narration.

Dylan W (jp) wrote: A truly great movie. Simple story, with some twists but it is the sheer ability of the director to make finely tuned story shine that makes this movie great.
Sarfara A (nl) wrote: Johnny Guitar a Western film directed by Nicholas Ray. Based on the novel by Roy Chanslor. Starring Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Mercedes McCambridge, and Scott Brady. So this film has got duel between two women. It started rather interestingly, and I was squeezing out as much fun out of that opening scene as possible; and I said to myself 'hell, yeah this is going to be a film to remember'. My humble expectations began to fall apart because of how the film was unlocking. This is first film I saw starring Mercedes McCambridge, and aside from her role (which is mean and bothering) she looked real witch with those funny facial expressions. Just fairly good enough to be entertained with some western film, not a big deal huh.
