g g (es) wrote: OK maybe purely as a movie it is not 5 star but it is SO well done, SO much TRUTH, this needs to be watched by everyone. Forget the 'starring' listed here. This is about us as a people. Watch it with a friend.

familiar s (fr) wrote: Average real-life based movie, nothing that makes it "A Must Watch".

Matthew M (de) wrote: I remember seeing this as a kid and enjoying it. So I finally found out what the title was by just scanning through salvation army and recognizing that the movie was in fact the one I remember watching as a kid. Refreshing my memory and figuring out why I liked it as a kid was fun. The nostalgic factor really helped me enjoy the picture but it was a fun and entertaining story. Glad I relived my childhood memories of the film. Also I enjoyed the soundtrack. The songs sung were frickin awesome. The movie I had was edited so I am kind of interested to see what they really see and if I can get myself on an unedited version.

Ann M (es) wrote: Very funny movie from the early 70s. Bob Newhart was in it, too. Not sure why he's not mentioned in the Flixster summary. They filmed it in my parents' hometown in Iowa, and I can remember getting Dick Van Dyke's autograph as a little girl. It brought back memories when he appeared at the barbershop convention a couple weeks ago.

Rebecca C (de) wrote: A good western. Not very eventful but Jimmy Stewart and Richard Widmark were fun to watch.

Jean R (fr) wrote: This was one of my mother's favorite movies (she was in her mid-20's when it was originally exhibited). It has a very clever plot, is well-acted, and is very funny in a low-key way. I enjoyed this film, especially for its glimpse into the world of Scotland sixty years ago. Be warned, though, that the pace is quite slow by modern movie standards. You should be ready to relax and take it easy while watching. Won't be enjoyable to those craving lots of explosions and car chases (there is only one car chase).

A PLEASANT MIXTURE OF POLITICS, ROMANCE, & CUTTING EDGE KUNG FU! 1920'S ERA CHINA PERFECTLY ILLUSTRATED UNDER HERMAN YAU'S SUPERIOR DIRECTION! With a run time of only 100 minutes, at first I was stunned to see Sammo Hung Kam-Bo playing Chan Wah Shun, Yip Man's master, because he died in IP Man 2. But, ... as one who often watches prequels and sequels alike, I opened my mind up and quickly got passed this, as Sammo's appearance is brief, and relatively unimportant in the large scope of the movie's sole plot ... to illustrate the growth of Yip Man from a promising young pupil into an unstoppable force. I appreciate the inclusion of competition between Cheung Wing Shing (Huang Yi) and Li Mei Wai (Rose Chan) who both are in love with Yip Man, all while his brother Yip Tin Chi (played by iu-Wong Fan) desperately tries to match make Cheung Wing Shing with Yip Man, so that perhaps, his fellow pupil, Li Mei Wai will finally acknowledge and welcome his undying love for her. This story's antagonist is not a mere single individual, as in all 3 trilogy films, but instead political corruption ... which later threatens his temple, his friends and his honor, forcing Yip Man (played by Yu-Hang To) to single handedly fight off a swarm of Japanese Shinobi in what yields, ONE HELLUVA ULTIMATE MARTIAL ARTS SHOWDOWN! This film rates 5 stars just like the IP Man trilogy does!

Nandan T (it) wrote: Why is this rated so low? A wonderful film. At the end you will be holding back tears (or not). Highly Recommended.

Brandon S (de) wrote: A spectacular and imaginative sci-fi adventure that is equal parts thrilling and heartwarming. This is a Disney adventure that I will never forget; a benchmark of my childhood, and one animated film that I've consistently revisited. A truly stunning work of visual filmmaking; puts most major science fiction blockbusters as of late to shame.
