Deborah P (it) wrote: This movie is subtle and stomach-punching at the same time. Great acting and plot, everything great with the exception of the sex scenes, very silly!

Ed B (jp) wrote: One of my favorite movies is 'Black Widow', which stars favorite actor Debra Winger--and Theresa Russell, mother of Max Roeg, the star of this movie. He is the reason to see this film, a gay teen romance mash-up with Southern Gothic and a dash of post-murder magic realism. The cliche climax is set in a maybe-haunted plantation house. Max Roeg is attractive physically and emotionally, delivers his lines convincingly, has great hair--and gives off some of his mother's appealing feral quality. Diana Scarwid and Ricky Lee Jones are good in small roles. The movie otherwise manages to be both over- and under-acted, a feat I would have thought hard to bring off, but this film achieves it. Particularly terrible: the other male ingenue and the actor who plays his sexually-abusive-when-drunk father.

Lia M (us) wrote: Boring and depressing. Trying to make these kids out to be victims of small-town whatever. Everyone's so hate-able you have no sympathy for this bunch of mean screwed up losers. Waste of time.

Gavin P (br) wrote: An OK rom-com - I can see how it could've been liked in 1989, but now it just seems a little too uneventful and cliched. Lloyd (Cusack, so young!) pines for Diane (Skye) - but there's not much chemistry there, and no real backstory for either, other than he doesn't know what he wants to do & she's really smart and has received a fellowship. No real funny moments and an unnecessary subplot with her Dad/the IRS, but it is nice to see the good-guy, not drinking at the party and being a gentleman. Very obvious ending. Not bad, but not groundbreaking either.

Ryan K (us) wrote: Although not widely considered one of his greats, this film is more than an achievement.

Nik M (gb) wrote: Sanjuro is easy to follow with simple characters, story-lines, and a consistently developing plot with motivated characters that are delightful to watch with their great acting and incredibly well-written script and screenplay.

laura b (gb) wrote: Really show's how just one hit of something can spiral into an all consuming addiction. And also show's how it can destroy a healthy relationship and two people can become selfish and put drugs first, it also show's how people will do anything to make money to get the drugs or to get the drugs. It also show's how an addiction and drugs can mess with anyone's head to the point they have a breakdown or become mentally unstable.

Adam R (gb) wrote: A terrible excuse for a comedy and a disappointment considering the leading actors. For some reason I have tried watching this a few times and it only gets worse with each viewing. (First viewing - Teen years)
