Cathy l (jp) wrote: It was a dumb-laugh kind of movie. I did enjoy some of the dumb jokes. If you are in the mood for cursing / dumb / mocking religion / vulgar humour this is the movie. Putting Anna Kendrick and John Francis Daley was a great choice! They act well together. I hope to see them again together in future movies. It's a stay-at-home rainy day kind of movie. Not a good movie if you are religiously Catholic...

Lurple J (fr) wrote: Princess is definitely not your average animated movie, and it's not your average revenge flick either. The animation style is somewhat simplistic but it works. More jarring are the flashbacks that are presented in actual film- not animated segments- and in certain cases this proves quite effective and unsettling.I found much of the film to be excellent; August and Mia's interaction, and the damage inflicted on them by what has happened feel very real. It's a cut above the recent revenge cinema that's come out in the US (The Brave One, Death Sentence). My only issue with the film is that it seemed to come apart at the end. I won't go into specifics, but while I didn't expect or even hope for a happy ending, the ending that I got just seemed contrived and inept. It didn't seem to fit with the rest of the film.Disturbing, violent, and sad. Princess has content which makes it tough to recommend to most viewers.
Justin B (ru) wrote: One of only a few writers I keep coming back to, his humor, insights, and perspective never fails to impress me. I thought this was a wonderful movie, unfortunately it doesn't contain nearly enough about his life, or even a fraction of his ideas, but it seems more than worth watching for anybody interested in philosophy, psychology, physics, and related fields.
Wayne Z (kr) wrote: The story of Joan Jett's original band, The (all-female) Runaways. This was a group that was manufactured by their sleazy manager Kim Fowley, who is shown here in a less than positive light. Most of the girls in the group were only 16 at the time. It tells of their battle with drugs, each other and the scars left once the band split up (after 4 years). The most moving part is when the late (drummer) Sandy West describes her life post Runaways as a drug runner and hit woman. Scary stuff. All she ever really wanted to do was be behind the drums and playing with the girls again. Two main things however make this film less than perfect. 1.There is no contribution from Joan Jett and 2. None of The Runaways original (and excellent) music is used - though they are shown performing a cover of Lou Reed's 'Rock 'N' Roll (not one of their best songs). Directed by their (at one time) bassist.
Scott A (it) wrote: Is this movie stupid as all hell? Yes. But is it entertaining? Yes, it is.There is so much awful about this movie, that after awhile you just can't help but join in with the so awesome it's good vibe it has going. From the crazy awful score, to the odd sword sound effects, to the ninja laser, to the awful acting, the horrible editing, the lead being shot at hundreds of times...sometimes only a foot away...and never getting a scratch...It'll have you shaking you head, but laughing at the same time. The final ten minutes is so crazy bad, it's almost genius. Be on the lookout for two men getting shot in the back and how over the top their fall to the ground is as they die. I mean, they both basically jump and throw their arms into the sky as they fall. It's quite something to see. Or when one of the villains' truck hits a tiny tree and explodes on impact. Yeah right.Or in the middle of a chase scene, the lead and his mentor meet up and literally take a time out to have tea and remember old times??? WTF??It did have Judie Aronson looking hot as all hell, so there's that. But man was this some awful film making. One of those it's so bad, it's kind of good...
Peter P (nl) wrote: Funny gangster spoof, Michael Keaton is his normal great self, Peter Boyle was funny and overall this was a decent comedy, and that is coming from a guy who hates period pieces, but maybe that is why I like it, cause it makes fun of all the stereotypes of that time.
Four Star F (br) wrote: Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, this film stars a cast including Joel McCrea, Laraine Day, Herbert Marshall, and George Sanders. Wanting a good scoop about events in Europe a newspaper editor sends a reporter off to dig something up. Joel MCcrea's character finds himself entangled in a complicated kidnapping scheme and assassination. On top of that he falls in love while on the job. With no one believing him at first, he must try and gather the facts that ultimately might lead to a war. Dodging two attempts on his own life, he knows he is getting close. However, little does he know how near he actually is. After more twists and turns MCcrea finally gets his story and the girl but at a cost. From the scenes in the windmill until the tense moments on the plane, this movie does much to intrigue. It serves a double purpose, a decent piece of propaganda and a good thriller.
