When you make a film this fragile and quiet, every element takes on added significance. The problem here is that the screenwriting, while not overtly showy, is rather over-determined at times, and there are also several 2 shots which are a bit too intrusive in terms of the psychological motivation for the camera movements in the rest of the film.

I dug the initial premise (though nothing original), decent mystery, quick pace, AMAZING cinematography, awesome soundtrack and good acting. Somebody should've stomped on the screenwriter with all the elements this one had going for it. It's funny how I just recently watched "I Know What You Did Last Summer" before checking this one out. It's blatantly obvious that this was the movie they were trying to copy, only not knowing where to go from there. The "Dead in 3 Days" motive was there, then not. Why bother? The same could be said about the mystery. It solves itself about an hour in when they throw in a plot twist out of nowhere and does nothing but confuse me even more. Finally, save for one kill, the flick was pretty dry when came to offing anybody. This is a slasher movie, not "Pretty in Pink." Finally, the ending was lamer than non-alcoholic beer while it threw in weird scenarios and extension after extension for an ending. Prochaska tried his best, and came out looking pretty good. If only the script worked in his favor. It was basically a decent first hour with a shit payoff. It had all the elements there (actors, scenery, director, suspense) just nothing backing it up (gore, mystery, story, ending). Nice try, Austria. Better luck next time.

The cinematography by cinematographer Gu Changwei makes use of rich, intense colors. Zhang himself was a cinematographer prior to his directorial debut, and worked closely with Gu.i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch its got a good cast thorughout this movie.....its got good fight scenes thorughout this movie.....i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch its got a good cast throughout this movie.....i think that this is such a really sad movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie......i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch with a great cast throughout this movie.......its got a good soundtrack throughout this movie.....i think that this is such a really sad movie 2 watch with a great cast throughout this movie......

It has great miniature FX and fight sequences. Where the film tends to fail is in the story. Like most Godzilla stories, it isn't anything spectacular but this goes a tad further by introducing a romance element that just didn't make any sense. It all culminates with the line "Even if you're a cyborg, Katsura, I still love you!"

Best of the bunch, could have been a feature. Alive - :fresh: Versus director dude is the man, and while this is slow at first, it picks up in the end. For sci-fi nerds only. Saw - :rotten: Had so much potential, and it was squandered. Needed more scenarios, less clues, and a stronger ending. Taxi - :fresh: I'm bitchy about comedies, and I actually thought this was pretty funny. I mostly watched it to see how Tim Story could handle his action, (since he's directing Fantastic Four) and I'm pleasantly surprised. My hope for FF has increased.
