Colleen C (au) wrote: I feel as if the book must be better since there seems to be a lot of interest in it. The film, however, leaves a bit to be desired. I honestly wouldn't have seen it if it had starred anyone but Kate Winslet. I felt as if we were missing details necessary to the narrative throughout. The two young actresses played great roles, however.
Leslie W (nl) wrote: For me, the highlight is a 50-second David Lynch piece which somehow captures what could be a drama of epic proportions! A masterpiece! The rest of the DVD is less than captivating, but nevertheless interesting, at the very least!

Andrew B (fr) wrote: This is easily one of Mel Brooks' best movies, on par with his big 3 classics (The Producers, Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles), yet somehow not as revered or remembered among them.
David S (mx) wrote: Wonderful cinematography adds a strong sense of gloom and a dark, foreboding atmosphere that occasionally produces chills, but the narrative itself is so incoherent - and with no sense of direction - that it really doesn't go anywhere. Confusing rather than interesting or engrossing, this is one of those cases of all style and no substance... but the style is admittedly potent.
Ashley H (ag) wrote: Young Man With a Horn is a remarkable film. It is about an aimless youth who learns that he has a gift for music and falls in love with the trumpet. Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall, and Doris Day give incredible performances. The screenplay is well written and the music is also excellent. Michael Curtiz did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and music. Young Man With a Horn is a must see if you love music.
