Kurt F (es) wrote: 9/11/15 I just didn't really care about the characters. So I didn't care about their story. Julia Roberts character is just a bitch THe only thing that the film has going for it is that it is not the usual Rom-Com formula. It's actually not quite clear who the love story is between for the first 2/3rds of the film. I found that there was almost no chemistry between the two stars, so some of the other reviews surprised me. Not really worth the time.

Barbara H (jp) wrote: This movie could only be interesting to someone who is conducting an anthropological study of 1980s pop culture. Bad hair, bad soundtrack, bad lipstick, gratuitous shots of women's legs, bad over-acting, ludicrously tight pants, bad plot. It's just very bad.

Brad G (ag) wrote: "What do I call you besides Stupid?" 60,000 dollars drops into the lap of a somewhat happily married couple and the next thing you know...well, this is noir so of course Lizabeth Scott's house frau ain't all sandwiches and laundry--she's a beast and her slick partnership with Dan Duryea's two-bit thug is all kinds wrongheadedness. The dialogue is whipsmart and the first half crackles with electric intensity, but the involvement of the snarky Don DeFore and sister Kristine Miller bogs the film down a bit and the climax leaves a little to be desired. Still, it's a solid entry in the genre and well worth checking out. VF.
