This one isn't quite as sleazy as later cannibal movies, in fact it's a pretty decent film. It's plot is almost identical to the film "A Man Called Horse" but set in a remote village in an Asian Jungle. The cannibals only come into the film towards the end of the film so gore-wise it's not a splatter-fest. But this one is the worst offender for animal cruelty with numerous scenes of animal baiting and on-screen butchery and sacrifice. But the film is well enough acted and the romance between Ivan Rassimov and Me Me lai is played out genuinely enough providing some quite steamy scenes and ample amounts of nudity. It's got a pretty catchy theme-tune too. The film is far from perfect but it's enjoyable enough.

As such, it's quite painful and wondrous, satisfying and shattering. I don't know if there will ever be enough light to help us see all we have to do, but films like this help.

Surprised that a film that looks like it was shot on a VERY LOW budget had alot of top people in it. I found this movie in Surrey one time at a used video store, regretted not getting it then but when I seen it downtown at another use video store I figured why not, glad I did.

Sea of Love doesn't linger, plod, or even give you too much time to laugh at its quick sense of humor- it moves precisely when it means to. All fat has been trimmed away, and I recommend this film to anyone who wants to be an editor- this film moves, and not once does it double back to hold your hand. This is how you make a suspense film.

Other then that this film is a hot mess, and when I found it that it was somewhat autobiographical of his relationship with his wife (who plays Juliet in the film), it made it more dysfunctional.

This is a hilarious, involving film that, although politically incorrect by today's standards, is actually quite wholesome and sweet. The acting across the board is a pleasure to watch. Director Daniel Mann doesn't do anything remarkable with the material, and not all of the execution is perfect. Nevertheless, I was thoroughly entertained, and I would recommend this film to most people. It is the intelligence of the script and the colorful performances that make it so much fun.
