(ru) wrote: This movie is so underrated, a trully obscure masterpiece. Here in Colombia we don't produce or even get to see a national horror movie so often. This movie's plot its very well implemented, the script is carefully developed. Has a good pace, modest sound effects... Camera use suits well acording to the locations, it's atmospherically inmersive and aids to recreate tension. The shooting of this movie was actually on location at +4000 metters above sea level, on an abandoned militar post on top of a mountain in Gerrilla occupied territory. The actors and crew had to use oxigen and paramedics who aided them when height disease stroke. The cast counts with the presence of some familiar faces in colombian TV The plot never gives everything away and still at the end you can't tell at all if it was trully something supernatural or rather a problem of isolation of a conflictive group of soldiers. Here is where it trully shines, cause everything goes downwards since the squad decided to cover some disturbing truths of their past operations. They mutiny against their superior and the convivence among them starts to tear down. Colombian society has been struck by war by many years and in the last decade has been discovered the use of the "false positive" crime among soldiers who kill innocent people to present them as guerrilla fighters and earn benefits. It's a very supersticious society too, these two aspects made the production specially interesting for local viewers, as support a narrative not so strange in colombian battlegrounds, the belief of soldiers in paranorlmal forces, and crimes commited by the state, who being not prosecuted in any legal way, hang on the conciousness of more and more inestable and frustrated men, who finally sucumb over madness and guilt. A Latino American Horror Masterpiece. Best colombian horror/thriller Movie of the decade. A must See..

(ca) wrote: There's nothing particularly novel about this film, and I get the impression that the novel on which it was based might be a far more tantalising proposition, but it was good fun. Somewhat hackneyed in places and not able to work out whether it was was aping Conan or The Princess Bride, it was still good fun.

Makavejev interviews all of the actors with the strongman/acrobat redoing some of the same stunts he did in the film, which are pretty amazing. Most will enjoy the film, but be warned those seeking some form of a plot will not find it here.

(it) wrote: Wow - Teen slashers are back with a bang in this one! If you liked 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' you'll like this. Very similar storyline with a psycho killer seemingly intent on getting their revenge on a bunch of lovelies that got up to no good the previous year, but in this instance it's all set within the confides of an all girl school, clearly promoting the whole girl power thing. With plenty of scares, and plenty of gore, the action more than compensates for an albeit slightly traditional horror film ending. This has to be one of the best slasher films thats been released in a while, which is made all the more comical given the bitchiness between the female dominated cast. This movie is very recommendable and equally as good after a second viewing..............and a third viewing, but I'm STILL eagerly awaiting the potential sequel that the ending has suggested (and warranted)! I'm also left wondering how on earth Carrie Fisher managed to become more like Rikki Lake than the Chelsea bun stunner we all knew her as from the Star Wars films - certainly not up to the standard of the other fresher beauties (before they are all carved up via a pimped up tyre iron that is).
