(de) wrote: This is a rare character performance that Jake Gilenhaal portrayed with fluid, sleek and brilliant depth. The film tackled something that's happening in the here and now. As our technology becomes more advanced it invites challenge and challenge invites conflict clamoring for more. The film top to bottom is rare in the way we haven't explored such an interesting character whom we know nothing about besides the way he portrays himself. Ambitious. Clever, droll and absolutely terrifying. Yet interesting and thought provoking. A true sociopath who becomes more dangerous with each day. Highly recommend if not for the subject matter, visuals, performances or even music

(au) wrote: boring and unattainable and lousy ... we ( my husband and I watched this disgusting and uninteresting movie far longer than we should have. Its not worth the price we paid to rent it. Don't bother with it its a lost cause.
(de) wrote: A very fascinating true story about the origins of a design genius. The acting and flow of this was amazing. But at times I did feel bogged down with the bohemian "Gay Pari" feel if it.

(kr) wrote: i thought tom hanks stranded on an island with his volleyball was funny until this italian original showed up. the running sociopolitical commentary and raw take on stereotypes make this a funny disturbing drama. think lord of the flies mixed with blue lagoon, with a slice of from here to eternity thrown in... just unreal. the unkempt hair and haughty dialog may be ugly, but at least the sand and sea are really pretty.
(it) wrote: Musically phenomenal, a little dated and hippy-drippy at this point, but still worth it for the Otis Redding footage alone. The audience reaction shots during Ravi Shankar show that you don't have to show much (if any) of the artist performing to capture their music, as well.
(br) wrote: Enjoyable "B" movie, a fun slapstick comedy with a great cast. Very entertaining, great pace and not at all too long. A minor classic, well directed. Simple and entertaining.
(ru) wrote: Absolutely glorious. Only the climax lets it down.
(de) wrote: Had to watch a good western to make up for meeks cutoff. Such a great story, tons of great themes, every character well developed and the timing is perfect. Martin Ritt is one of the best directors of our time. Also check out 'The Front'
(fr) wrote: Stephen Garrett from Time Out said the following in his review of Super Mario Bros: "It will baffle kids, bore adolescents, and depress adults." He's right. It's a great novelty; as a fan of the video game, it was fun to reminisce. Besides nostalgia, there's little here for fans to enjoy.
