Well, I survived the movie (I don't like to dose off watching a movie because it is a waste of my money) and still I do not like it as much as Oliver Stone's other movies. I love best his JFK.Still, there are some redeeming parts. First, I would say Oliver Stone is sincere in telling the story of ALEXANDER and he attempts to delve into his troubled short-lived existence. I especially like the last one hour. The elephant battle scene is awesome and Alexander's death scene is beautifully shot. Anthony Hopkin's monolgue near the ending is rather revealing, making us pity the early demise of a king who dares to achieve, even at the expense of his death.If not for the last one hour, the movie is packed with big and twisty dialogue that had me scratching my head. Most of the times, I see alot of people very angry with one another. The performances are over-the-top but never bad. Angelina Jolie is so beautiful and sexy that she becomes a major distraction. Val Kilmer tries his best to play his role, one which is not really in his repertoire. Anthony Hopkins is simply competent but not good. Rosario Dawson bares more than her acting capabilities. Colin has flaws but largely carries the demanding role well. With his movie, his stardom will shine on but I am more interested in his other talked-about movie called A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD, which I think should be banned in Singapore because of its bisexual theme. So, with bits and pieces of good things about ALEXANDER, I can say I don't like it but I won't hate it too. Yup, I still stand by anyone who says it is boring. Rating: B

On the surface it may seem like a standard good versus evil religious tale but if you look only a little harder you'll see this is actually a romance filled dark coming of age story told from the perspective of a young female demon who escapes from hell to learn about the ways of the world. Combining gore, good looks, nudity, porn, and all things demonic with the innocence of a preteen who's just found what the internet is truly used for, Dark Angel: The Ascent is a well told story that is sure to please as long as you don't get too hung up on the production values.

Mathmatiquement c'est fort, humainement c'est honteux : voil le regard que Fuller porte sur l'arme et la guerre, deux univers o les mots argent, efficacit, conomie sont les matres, au dtriment de l'tre humain. Tout le film de Fuller, si pro-amricain qu'il soit (cela reste une oeuvre de studio quand mme), est aussi virulent que ne l'tait Steel Helmet. Il suffit de voir ces hommes tomber comme des mouches, jusqu' ce faux happy-end o les personnages principaux s'en sortent mais dans quel tat physique et psychologique... Ct mise en scne, Fuller a plus d'argent que pour Steel Helmet mais en reprend pourtant les mme ingrdients : un groupe d'hommes rduit, un dcor unique et claustrophobe, des ennemis que l'on ne voit presque jamais... Et tout a tourn en 20 jours ! Moins puissant que Steel Helmet ou Big Red One mais tout aussi efficace que Merril's marauders.

It is meticulously constructed, and incredibly creative, from the script to the post production (I love the mixing in of Japan train announcements!)Also I've never seen a film where in the closing credits they list the people who's scenes were cut! (Good lord how long was it going to be?!)
