Robert H (ag) wrote: Very nicely done gore/sexploitation film very much like Italian giallo films only done Japanese styles. Even has a score that's a lot like a Goblin track. Sure the blood isn't quite realistic these days but there's so much of it and considering the time the film was released, it's well over the top of what you'd be used to. I've heard this film as being compared to Evil Dead, which it really isn't. Think more like Suspiria or The Beyond. This film is kind of a precursor to the Torture Porn craze of the 2000s only much much earlier. If you like the Saw films, are a fan of Italian giallos and think HG Lewis makes some super fun movies, you need to see Evil Dead Trap.
Matt H (kr) wrote: Just nudged its way into my top ten. I would recommend this to everyone. It's a big beautiful epic in the lesser known front of WW1. Cultures, imperialism, mortality, and the idea of home all swept up in the course of world events. The music makes a simple ride through the desert into a sub story, and the cinematography finds a palette of colors in the desolation that gives it a characterization all its own. Give it a shot.
Dan A (us) wrote: This is so stupid, but amazing at the same time. Gerard Butler plays a cold blooded, psychopathic murderer who lacks any sort of moral conscience, who kills people with brutal glee and cracks one liners while doing so. I've never seen one character stab so many people in a film before. Amazing.
