(fr) wrote: A dark, drug-crazed reflection on the nature of advertising - clearly lacking in plot with some very . . . cartoony . ..scenes and characters. It suited the style and message of the film, though - and it was great eye-candy.

(gb) wrote: A ridiculous film, but just plain fun to watch. If you're looking for a deep movie with commentary on Latinos in America - don't watch this film. Heck, if you're even looking for a witty, classy comedy of empowered women rising above men - don't watch this film. But if you don't mind a playful romp through ludicrous, sexist stereotypes with cheesy dream sequences, drug money, beautiful people and a plot with more holes than a box of donuts - this is the film for you!

The film pulls the viewer right into the cooking right at the beginning and doesn't quite stop since it serves relevance between the father's cooking and his three daughters. The father can only express his feelings toward his daughters was through the dishes that he makes and nothing else. Each one of his daughters have there own lives as well as they're getting older which could result in leaving the father's household! The filming of the cooking of Chinese dishes is one of the film's strongest points- they looked so delicious that while I was witnessing this, I not only wanted to try the dishes but also wanted to see alot more cooking as well. The only flaw though is that a better build up to set the tone for the ending would've made it a perfect film. 3.5/4
