After the Promise
Elmer Jackson is a carpenter in a small Californian town in the 1930s. Struggling to bring up 4 young boys after the death of his wife, he is horrified when the Government (citing trumped-up charges of parental neglect) places the boys into various foster homes and institutions, unaware of the abuse that boys would then be subjected to. The conditions imposed by the court and the difficulties caused by the Depression make Jackson's determined and vigorous quest to find his boys extremely difficult.

Mostly bad acting, bad editing, bad directing, a bunch of actors who don't look like high school kids (a common problem but very obvious in this one). Among other inane plot points: a baseball coach obsessed with salami, a puking contest, roulette (come on, what's more boring than roulette?), low-grade Air Supply rip-off music, stoned mice, and high school kids laughing while their clothes get ripped off at the prom. Oh, great, now I probably just talked some people into seeing it. Baby Baio is adorable, must say. Except that stupid eye thing he does whenever he performs telekinesis.
