After the Rehearsal
Rational, exacting, and self-controlled theater director, Henrik Vogler, often stays after rehearsal to think and plan. On this day, Anna comes back, ostensibly looking for a bracelet. She is the lead in his new production of Stindberg's "A Dream Play." She talks of her hatred for her mother, now dead, an alcoholic actress, who was Vogler's star and lover. Vogler falls into a reverie, remembering a day Anna's mother, Rakel, late in life, came after rehearsal to beg him to come to her apartment. He awakes and Anna reveals the reason she has returned: she jolts him into an emotional response, rare for him, and the feelings of a young woman and an older man play out.

Quedan advertidos.

(it) wrote: I'm cracking myself up by calling this "Streets of James Franciscus" -- Karl Malden plays a blind "puzzle-solver" and Franciscus is another intrepid reporter who won't let the police do their job. This is Dario Argento's follow up to the Bird with the Crystal Plumage and it is decidedly Argento-lite. However, it does have a coherent giallo (murder mystery) plot going for it, which is not true of some later Argentos. But the brilliance of Argento is in his style and set-pieces (which really shine in his masterpieces Deep Red and Suspiria). We get a few glimpses of that later mastery here and much less blood and violence than you might expect. Worth a look.

They view this as proof the soul doesn't leave the body after death. Meanwhile, one of the assistants, Hans, is found guilty of threatening to commit murder and sentenced to death. His girlfriend witnesses the capital punishment and kills herself as well. Dr. Frankenstein brings the girl back to life with Hans brain inside of her, causing an interesting conflict inside the girl. She begins a trail of revenge for Hans death."Alright. I give up. Who are you?""I'll tell you later. Much later."Terence Fisher, director of Dracula: Prince of Darkness, The Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Horror of Dracula, Island of Terror, The Gorgon, and The Brides of Dracula, delivers Frankenstein Created Woman. The storyline for this picture is fun to watch unfold and does have a classic Frankenstein feel to it. The acting is above average for the genre and the cast includes Peter Cushing, Susan Denberg, Thorley Walters, and Robert Morris."I must tell you about myself."This was on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) during the Halloween season so I had to DVR it. This was pretty good and fun to watch unfold. I didn't hate the premise but the acting and drama were mild and slightly disappointing. Overall, this is only worth viewing if you're a fan of the classic horror genre."We have conquered death."Grade: C
