Abby D (jp) wrote: I may have to change the low rating someday. It is one of those movies that really makes you think. For me, it was confusing and I didn't get what was going on a lot of the time. The ending did make some sense, but still no cigar.

Justin M (gb) wrote: No one writes quite like David Mamet. The intricate plotting, the characters who live by a code, and best of all, the punchy, profane patter that defines his aesthetic. Even if the credits never roll, if you listen carefully enough you'll always know when you're watching Mamet. His films career has consisted of him working within the framework of genre--heist ('Heist'), fighting ('Redbelt'), military ('Spartan'), political satire ('Wag the Dog'), and here, the police procedural--while exploring deeper themes of loyalty, trust, identity, and his favorite device, the con. His stories are deliberately deceitful, throwing red herrings our way until he gives us one final reveal that shows the wool was over our eyes, and possibly the characters' eyes, the whole time. This film is an engrossing, provocative thriller that challenges you and offers no easy answers. It features some stock Mamet actors--Joe Mantegna (in fine form here), Willaim H. Macy (solid support), wife Rebecca Pidgeon and magician Ricky Jay. It's taut, quiet realism elevates it above others in its genre, and Mamet's poetic prose and deft touch behind the camera make this a superior crime thriller that will stay with you after it's over

Ivan N (mx) wrote: Betsy Drake wants to get married, she meets handsome Dr. Brown (Cary Grant) and decides that she wants to get married to him. Betsy begins to stalk Dr. Brown in a delightful manner but he wants to stay a bachelor. Betsy can be a bit creepy sometimes but she's a cutie. Trivia: She later married Cary Grant and they did LSD together.

Derek M (br) wrote: This well-paced, offbeat dramedy with a pure and simple plot is hands down one of the best indie films I've seen this year. Brilliantly written and carried out well by Duplass, Plaza, and Johnson. This film keeps the viewer on it's toes, even with the limited budget, and it never looks back. Despite what some may say about the final set piece, it was built up well enough to where it worked for me. While the comedy is never there in droves, nor will the humor have you on the floo -- when the funny does come, it's with a set-up and a clever punch. This is not one to skip over because you don't recognize the actors. In fact, that might be the very reason to see it. Reviewed 11/2/12. Rated 4.25 out of 5.
