Alamak... toyol!

Pak Umar needed a way to get rich quick, so he bought an imp (toyol) from a witch doctor. However, he didn't have much money, so he chose the cheapest one. One day, Fakhrul and Kudin, two best friends who just so happen to be thieves, decide to rob Pak Umar. Having no money, he hands them the imp. Unfortunately for the two friends, the imp isn't any good at stealing, so they decide to seek out Pak Umar to return the imp. However, after some desperate pleading from the creature, they allow the imp to have another go. Little do they know that the imp would steal from Farah - a girl who is having trouble with a drug trafficker named Daniel. Fakhrul and Kudin end up having to help Farah, while at the same time trying to trace Pak Umar.

Heather M (it) wrote: I really like Sailly Field. I just think she has some natural comedic timing and she always makes me laugh. This movie was just very cute.

John R (ca) wrote: 141001: I always find Ladd a little lacking. He just comes across too weak to be taken seriously, my opinion based upon this film and The Big Land (1957), which I recently viewed. Drum Beat seemed a bit slow, a bit long. Enjoyed Bronson and his totally unreasonable, treacherous character. Worth watching at least once.

Jacob B (ag) wrote: Four Christmases is intermittently funny and stars a talented cast but all of that goes to waste with a too short runtime, a script that suffers from uneven writing and a story that lacks the charm to measure up with the far superior Christmas movies out there leaving this as one of the more middling holiday-themed comedies.

Bals A (ru) wrote: A nice and well-made film about family problems but I will never forgive that the Academy prefered this over Apocalypse Now.

Brad S (br) wrote: I wanted to like this one, and can see the potential in it, but the movie is way too long at 3hrs. The premise is decent enough for a fantasy film, and Hopkins and Pitt are both compelling in it, but the film gets lost in itself. I wouldn't say it's ever really boring, but some tightening-up would have made it stronger and more powerful. Still may be worth a watch if a fan of either of the lead actors.

Andrew L (es) wrote: This is strangely enthralling. Like mixing Clueless with a Michael Dudikoff ninja flick. The action is quite good (for a ninja movie), there are some gratuitous tit shots (but not of the main cast) but the comedy is mediocre. On the plus side George Takai is in it and he looks like he had a ball making this.
