Karen A (it) wrote: Quiet, casual film from mumblecore filmmaker Andrew Bujalski about twin sisters (who are non professional actors, by the way) dealing with growing up and growing apart. Very realistic female leads. Also, probably the first movie I've seen about a person with a disability where the disability is not portrayed as the source of her problems.

The film is exactly like any Hollywood bio pic but unfortunately, they use little of Gainsbourg's actual music--so what is the point? They took this cantankerous fellow and examined nothing of his life or why is sometimes banal pop ditties are important. I actually love his music but the film never explores anything--not even the obvious, how did this ugly fellow get all those chicks! A few super things--Laetitia Casta, who plays Brigitte Bardot, is wonderful and never imitates but totally captures Bardot, Gainsbourg had a happy childhood with terrific parents, the hair and costumes from the 60s and 70s never look ridiculous like they usually do.

Alex S (kr) wrote: Inconsistently funny and inconsistently thrilling, Big Trouble in Little China is a grueling 99 minutes due to poorly developed characters, a thinly written script, and the racism that overshadows the entire thing. A smear on John Carpenter's record.

Paul D (jp) wrote: Ugh...Tinker Bell deserves better than this! I can see why Disney had to buy Marvel & Lucasfilm if this is the best that they can do with their older characters. Aside from being very colorful, there is not much to this movie. It's wholesome for the kids, but even kids deserve to have better stories pushed on them than this.
