Alice in the Cities

German journalist Philip Winter has a case of writer’s block when trying to write an article about the United States. He decides to return to Germany, and while trying to book a flight, encounters a German woman and her nine year old daughter Alice doing the same. The three become friends (almost out of necessity) and while the mother asks Winter to mind Alice temporarily, it quickly becomes apparent that Alice will be his responsibility for longer than he expected. After returning to Europe, the innocent friendship between Winter and Alice grows as they travel together through various European cities on a quest for Alice’s grandmother.

Betty W (it) wrote: So apparently there are these two old ladies who live in a mansion that they have completely covered in other peoples thrown away things. Then, this crazy naked chick come along and becomes obsessed with knitting which reminds the two old women of why they live alone and why they have never had a social life outside their house. For the most part this movie makes little sense, but the ending is fascinating as you try to place all the puzzles pieces together. Also, the vibrancy of the red yarn was beautiful to look at. So were the creative scenes where Knit-Again destroyed all of thier objects insides the house that had come to life.

Brett B (br) wrote: Does a great job of explaining a lot of the 80s hardcore scene.

Jarkko H (ca) wrote: Amusing for the whole family film, the story is mixed with a variety of animal characters.A little cocky lion, freedom of longing zebra, hippo bustling, all the time suffering and fearful giraffe, four stroke, as well as a group of penguin celebrating ring-tailed lemur sound pretty crazy playing the title role in the film.Something's wrong yes but it is not very noticeable.

Ian V (de) wrote: This was my favorite movie a long time ago. Sure, the screenplay may not be Oscar-worthy (no pun intended), but it's a heartfelt and honest one filled with characters that we know personally and love deeply. That's what a screenplay should be. Watching it 10 years after I "out-grew" it, I realize that I still know the lyrics to all the songs I listened to for hours on end from that old cassette tape: my first soundtrack. Is it a good movie? Does it matter? Even now, less than a week before I leave for college, it's a movie that I deeply and truly love and can always return to.
