James J (it) wrote: This film is really difficult to judge. It's so slow and difficult to watch, and it's not that it's even rewarding when you're all said and done with it. But there are such moments of pure brilliance alongside some of the most gorgeous cinematography I've ever seen, especially in the second half. How do you approach this? It's tough; it's not my thing; it's really good; it's unique.
Jordan J (ru) wrote: This is just a pure classic. The special effects were great for it's time and still look pretty good for today's standards. This movie was the spawn of three sequels and a fourth sequel coming soon. Jurassic Park introduced something new and was fresh. The suspense was great and pretty much turned this sci-fi action movie into a thriller at some parts. Unlike the two sequels to come, this movie was the scariest. The plot was really good and made sense and clearly was written better and not written to just make money. Yes, the movie is full of eye candy but that brings up the movie even more because it would be good even if it had the effects of jaws. The special effects just make the movie even better than it would've been. Overall this is just a great movie that anyone could like in one way or another. A+
Marco A (fr) wrote: One of my all-time favourite films. It's hard to believe that it's now 21years old, because I've spent the last 10 years seeing it as a fashion bible. Every time I see it, I see something new, just out of camera range. And I go: Oooooh! In the beginning it was just fun, but over the years Truth Or Dare has become a cherished and personal gem. One to watch alone, admiring the flamboyant dancers, and drawing inspiration from Madonna at the pinnacle of her career. It makes me wish I was a little bit older when she hit my town on her Blond Ambition tour. I was just this kid in the front row cheering Madonna on and being completely mesmerized and shocked (Like A Virgin). Today, I get the endless wit, I get her take on taboos and I see her journey from pop star to a full blown Icon. I see the references to Cabaret, Burlesque, Peepshow, and what have you. But most of all, I see fabulous outfits, on and off stage.
Charles M (mx) wrote: A great epic film set in the time of the turn of the century circa 1900. Last movie with James Kagney (came out of retirement for this). Several actors were in this before they became known names: Jeff Daniels, Fran Drescher, Samuel L. Jackson, John Ratzenberger; and also Norman Mailer had a cameo as Stanford White. A great score by Randy Newman. Be prepared for a long sit with this one. It is over 2 1/2 hours long with several sub plots. While this is a work of fiction it has several historical references and is a story of a black man's quest for dignity and acceptance.
