When a movie's trailer has the lead male wearing a baseball cap, a shirtless hoodie sweater and fucking weight lifting gloves then thats where the universe has ended. Seriously, the fact that people even watch this humongous pile of shit really leads me to believe the universe is coming to an end and that the people who made this film are responsible for it.

Stephen E (jp) wrote: There's no doubt that John Sayles has made better films than "Silver City", but that doesn't mean that his film is inferior. No, it has a great deal to offer, such as a top-notch cast, clever writing, and spot-on editing. The film's pacing and inconsistent camerawork may try the patience of some, but there is an engaging story here.

Jameson W (kr) wrote: This film, from Woody Allen, is unlike most of the other films I've seen of his. Hardly romantic at all, it instead was more of a drama/thriller. It's not my favorite film he's done, but it has a great screenplay and good performances. On a side note, at times I was distracted because many story elements reminded me of another Woody Allen movie, Match Point (2005), and while it was mas made decades later, I saw it prior to Crimes and Misdemeanors and therefore was shocked how similar the two were.

Hiroshi M (kr) wrote: pretty much unknown and forgotten, unlike the overrated Lost in Translation (the main guy in Tokyo Pop is also in Translation as the wacked out commercial director) , but even as a goofy comedy I think it has a much better insight into life in Tokyo than Lost in Translation

Richard N (de) wrote: This movie is something of an enigma. The best way I could describe it is that it's sort of like one long extended dream sequence, heavy use of soft focus, slow motion, haunting score, yet ultimately it leaves you desperate to find out the fate of the missing schoolgirls, but deep down knowing that you probably never will. Upon first viewing I recall Picnic at Hanging Rock made a deep impression on me, due in no small measure to the haunting beauty of Miranda, the embodiment of a tragic, ethereal yet forever beautiful "dream within a dream".
