Eric H (gb) wrote: A visually absorbing and uncompromising look at Cabiria, a prostitute who is doomed to make the same mistakes in life over and over again.Giulietta Masina is brilliantly moving and this is one time where the lead actor is as much the star of the movie as Federico Fellini. A husband and wife have never worked so well together!

Erik M (ru) wrote: Cold Mountain offers an epic storyline set during the twilight of the Civil War about a confederate soldier who escapes the war to return to his beloved. The storytelling for the most part is good, but there are some pacing problems in between. The performances from the leads are good, but the show stealer is Ren (C)e Zellweger as Ruby, a friend of Ada Monroe (Nicole Kidman). The direction is good overall, although it could have been better and the film has gorgeous cinematography.Although some of the drama did not have the effect it was supposed to, the overall experience is satisfying, an epic civil war romance with high production values and a worth-while story. A solid adaptation to the novel.

Mike B (es) wrote: Unexciting and blends in with several other forgettable genre films. You've seen worse, but that isn't the goal, is it? The dialogue is cliched and stilted, sometimes a bit goofy. Some of the supporting acting was substandard. Watch SAFE HOUSE instead.
