Pamela D (it) wrote: A criminal hunts down the getaway driver who betrayed his crew in this no-nonsense, engrossing crime thriller.I avoided this film for years as I am bored with crime movies about low-functioning punks. But I was wrong about this film. I didn't realize Hutton and Keitel are in it. You'll also see an uncredited Elliot Gould. None of these actors make bad movies. All give good performances.City Of Industry is gritty and well-paced, the punks are high-functioning, and ti contains a couple of minor twists I didn't see coming. Most importantly, this movie is more or less believable, the dialogue isn't corny, the action isn't unrealistic, and the story doesn't insult your intelligence. It held my attention and I was pleasantly surprised.
Don S (kr) wrote: This is a gritty, tough movie and hard to watch. The constant sirens and helicopters make the atmosphere of the film all too real. And the top notch cast bring a strong presence to the story. Furious, Tre, Doughboy, Ricky and Dooky are real characters that I won't soon forget. All the female actresses really bring their A games too! A fine film!
Jonathan L (ag) wrote: What a brilliant and underrated vampire movie! this one has a succubus/vampire creature is in New York as she seeks men in bars, has sex with them and kills them even drains their blood, a out of town college student goes into the city to seek advice from an actor friend as they have a good time in the city to find that woman who wants him.Good production values, gory violence with sex and good acting which is suprisingly good for a Troma movie and well done as it's a throwback to blaxploitation, highly recommended movie and it's got a good old school R&B soundtrack. Samuel L. Jackson stars as well.
Thomas P (kr) wrote: Roger Moore is my fav Bond, and after the high point of The Spy Who Loved Me, that magic carries over quite well here. More wit and less camp make this edgier Bond a welcome success. A few extra winks and nods to making fun of all things Bond reach a fever pitch here including blowing up the stunning Lotus of the previous film, and even taking some unusually weird shots at the typical Bond-girl image. Trust me, it gets weird all right, same as the bits of chauvinism, but i digress..A bit more clumsy and vulnerable for a spy here too, but it builds the suspense differently without losing the Bond-spy image. Revisits the ski theme with fantastic stunts and the rather satisfying tongue in cheek humor mixed in perfectly. A very entertaining Bond flick, just plz forgive a few sexist shots in the script from 40 yrs ago.4.5 out of 5 Bonds on ice
Gavin P (fr) wrote: A decent thriller, but nothing spectacular. Cotten & Valli are good, but Welles is essentially not even in this film! It's a bit scattershot, but finally ends up in the great sewer chase scene. Awesome score, but otherwise not that great a mystery film, really.
