All 26 directors got complete creative freedom, and boy they used it. This is one of the most messed up movies I've seen in a while (X, Z, Y, D, etc). Some pretty hardcore stuff happens. Now yeah, it's uneven, but can you really expect a movie with multiple plots to be coherent? That's like complaining Heavy Metal is too loud. It's always going to be like that, nothing will change. It's something different, and you never really get bored with the any of the shorts considering none of them even clock 10min.

The film was definitely painful and difficult to watch at the time, the sense of the love between Wilde and Douglas is hard to understand and often hard to take, however despite the sadness of the film I still found it a beautiful and engaging watch.

The cast is strong with Elliott Gould stealing the show, the motorbike chase towards the end of the movie is really well done, and although not a must watch, it is still well worth doing so. Plus it has got blaxploitation star Richard (Shaft) Roundtree being as cool as ever, just a shame he plays a rather pointless role in the film.
