Kathryn Schroeder, FILMFRACTURE The Bad Intentions follows Cayetana over the course of the pregnancy for her mother, and it promises to climax with her own death for she believes that she must die since her brother is to be born. Dark, for sure; humorous coming from a confused and lonely child, definitely. Experiencing time with Cayetana and her twisted mentality is not frightful, or rooted in horror. This is a film about a girl experiencing a great deal of life in a very short time. It is thought provoking, funny, and at times hard to pin down exactly where Director and Screenwriter Rosario Garca-Montero is planning on going, and just how far she is willing to go with Cayetana.Amidst the fantastic performance by Fatima Buntinx as Cayetana, the breathtaking cinematography of Rodrigo Pulpeiro (the tracking shots are amazing, the framing impeccable, and such a great hand with focus indeed), and creative writing of Garcia-Montero The Bad Intentions becomes an audacious delight. Cayetana is an intelligent, spirited, overly dramatic, twisted little girl full of curiosity and dark thoughts. It is an absolute pleasure spending time with her, as any viewer of this film will agree.

Bruno C (us) wrote: I read one of the reviews here about Catholic propaganda, didn't really believe it...though the screenplay is heavily narrow in it's focusing in as a futurist interpretation of the aftermath of the Cristero War/La Cristiada. I will give credit though in what *could* have been an interesting idea of how our future is headed with mass consumerism, corporative domination, drug induced indifference to social problems...but really their portrayal of a future Mexico City was so simplistic, social problems really just reduced to poverty and insurgence (which kept being amalgamated as the same thing :-/). The characters were all one-dimensional, acting and directing really more in line for a telenovela and commercials. And it turns out, that the resistance to the apparent corporate Mexican dictatorship utopia is in fact an underground group of lay clergy. Um, so what about the Catholic church outside Mexico? The story is rather predictable, pretentious, and spoon-fed that really follows the Hollywood model, though of made-for-tv movie quality. Though the SFX were the best I've seen so far in an exclusively Mexican production, and the designs for future Mexico City; while perhaps ripping off THX, Logan's Run and steampunk sci-fi; were pretty well done. However, none of the glitz can help a mediocre script and sub-par acting and direction.

Matthew S (jp) wrote: I thought it was a great flick, as It really shows us how manipulated by what we believe to be the truth. Here if it was aired on FOX news it would have gone down as the "Truth". We all need to take less of our "Reality" from Hollywood and concentrate more on our own households & neighborhoods!

It really take the glamour out of drugs that movies usually portraits. I'm quite amazed how someone could get so much footage of themselves in really true and dark moments.
