Ben A (de) wrote: I've really come to love this movie. This is a perfect storm here of old school skateboarding, over-energetic acting, a performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a future academy award nominee in Josh Brolin- making this a classic of 'awesomely bad' films. Not to mention you have some odd 'authentic' touches, including a character wearing a SST records T-shirt and the inclusion of actual skateboarders as stunt people or other competitors. Mix in some wonderfully over the top dialog and you've created something special.

But, the film skims over his relationships with Laura Linney's character, Daisy, and his wife Eleanor, as well as Daisy's relationship with FDR's secretary. The "breaking bread," so to speak - hot dog bun, to be more precise - moment with the British king doesn't have the climactic feel it should, considering the importance the film places on the picnic in shaping events leading into WWII. Overall, the movie's okay; not bad, but not good enough to keep me from playing on my laptop.

Jacob A (kr) wrote: Although the titular shark of the movie 'Jaws' has aged poorly, Steven Spielberg's excellent direction and the incredible performances from top actors ensured that Jaws would go down in history as one of the many greats. The only negative to Jaws is that it inspired thousands of shark films, none of which have ever reached its level and most of which are a curse to the world. Jaws cannot be anything but five stars; it's brilliant acting - specifically, Robert Shaw's - as well as some excellent writing and great imagery means that the film will no doubt stay in the minds, and bring fear to the minds, of all viewers for as long as it can be seen.
