(it) wrote: A great performance from Hal Holbrook makes this feel like more in another string of crotchety old man movies (Gran Torino, Harry Brown, etc.). Walton Goggins, an actor I'm gaining more and more respect for as of late, is great with limited screen time, and Ray McKinnon, who I know best from his comedic work in O Brother Where Art Thou?, does an excellent job as a slimy, wife/daughter-beating man who is frustrated that he isn't smart enough or capable enough to provide for his family. The story kind of fades away at the end in a way I didn't really appreciate, but this is really an actors' piece and is definitely worth seeing just for the performances.

(fr) wrote: This film is one of the most incredible epics I have ever watched. This is on par with incredible masterpieces like Braveheart. The acting is solid the story is jaw dropping and inspiring. The speeches make you want to cheer. As usual Neeson is beyond amazing. Simply go watch this film.

(nl) wrote: A short swift Mary Pickford film made about the famous novel Pollyanna that was remade many times.Despite her childlike performance she is undeniable presence on screen & in many ways the prefect actress for this role. The story is wildly sentimental & cliche but it's still enjoyable & Mary's remarkable talent reigns through. A must see of hers if your a fan.

(au) wrote: Scary Movie is not meant to be taken seriously, judging by the jokes being thrown at the wall and hoping that they stick. Fortunately, most of them do (barring some out of the ballpark jokes and some that just don't make it), and the jokes that they have, their magnum opus perhaps lands in the movie theatre. The Wayans duo in Shawn and Marlon play characters that are capable of stealing the show and skewering the line of comedy; the former playing a possibly-bisexual quarterback with an unhealthy obsession, while the latter plays a typical stoner who spurts out some of the funniest jokes the movie has to offer. If you're in for some laughs, then Scary Movie can deliver, granted if you can handle the jokes.
