Mike M (au) wrote: There's a pronounced litmus test in the very first line of voiceover - "it is hard to underestimate the influence Vidal Sassoon has had" (on what - modern American literature? The Arab-Israeli conflict? Gabba house?) - and even if you can get past that without snorting, the opening montage is a veritable minefield, with a variety of unattributed voices (and Noel Edmonds) delivering breathless encomiums along the lines of "being close to Vidal is like sitting next to Muhammad Ali or Albert Einstein in their prime." (Only, presumably, with curlers in.) At no point does the resulting film, or its subject, become any more self-aware... For anyone who's only known Sassoon as a brand, rather than as a man, there's an element of surprise in being confronted with this spritely figure, who talks of growing up Jewish in an East End lorded over by Mosley's fascists (a historical detail you can audibly hear being trumped up to give the arc some substance) and how Bauhaus architecture changed the way he came to look at people's heads. But, really: it's hair. It grows, you have it cut, it grows back again. Dearie me, people, get over yourselves.

Nicholas L (br) wrote: Movies about dance are just as predictable as romantic comedies. The former always end up in a dance competitions, the later enjoy reunions after stumbling on an obstacle. Despite not having the most impressive dance choreography, the cast is interesting and watchable.

Alex W (es) wrote: Oliver stone is the last person i would expect to make a football movie. This feels like he is simultaneously glorifying the sport while criticizing it. Maybe the first part is just a show so he could sneak in the second. I still don't think the multi cut sudo stream of continuousness style that was more present in natural born killers works. Cameron Diaz dosen't feel right. Jim Brown really surprised me actually, you don't expect a former pro football player turned actor for a career of mostly B movies to be good but i though he was great. I have lots of feeling on this average movie.

Rodney E (mx) wrote: Awful movie rented with the intention of getting messed up to watch a horror movie. Sucks balls is an appropriate way to describe this movie.

TTT C (br) wrote: (***): Thumbs Up This movie is a total cheesefest but it is also an extremely entertaining and fun flick. This is truly a "so bad it is good" movie.

Robert H (gb) wrote: Philip Baker Hall's outrageous, scatterbrained portrayal of Nixon is the performance that actors should aspire to accomplish, as it truly does not get any better than this. The fact that Hall can carry an entire ninety minute film by himself is astonishing, and Secret Honor is compelling to no end.

Sage H (ca) wrote: The epic conclusion to a film that could have gone better, "Any Which Way" provides more lovable characters, fun laughs, more battles and brawls and a story that provided for a more thoroughly entertaining experience for everyone.

Michael G (kr) wrote: I know with screwball comedies you're just supposed to laugh but the whole dual personality thing with William Powell's character wasn't making much sense to me. The story and laughs just kind of lumbered around mostly and that whole boy scouts segment was more annoying than funny. This one's only for the most hardcore of Powell and Loy fans and definitely isn't the place to start. I Love You Again has a few worthwhile moments (namely anytime Myrna Loy is on screen) but it's not their best work together.
