(nl) wrote: For the record, it is not a sequel to Donnie Yen's 'Ip Man' duology. This movie tells the story of grandmaster's last few years of life especially his personal life problems. Where he stayed alone in a rented rooftop house teaching martial arts to the young generation. Actually it won't tell anything about Bruce Lee-Ip Man's relationship. I kinda expected that and got disappointed. This story was mainly narrated by Ip Chun's perspective about his father. That he struggled his new livelihood in Hong Kong who was apart from his wife. As usual good in making friends who visited him often. After his wife's death his son joins him who witnesses a local singer who had affair with his father but that he resisted it. More likely a fine sentimental drama with the couple of fights now and then.

It's a light hearted movie, so I don't understand why the making such a fucking fuzz over it's treatment? do all films about physically disabled people have to be serious, dull and melodramatic?

(es) wrote: Hammy, melodramatic and formulaic to a fault, Pride and Glory is a shade of better corrupt cop movies. The cast has talent no doubt, but only Colin Farrell gets to shine while everyone else seems to be on auto pilot. Jon Voight's only motivation is to say "cops protect cops" and nothing more, while the villains are all one dimensional. The movie even ends in a tight little bow and is not very satisfying.
(ag) wrote: I don't think it's as bad as the reviews I have read. It does have a fast pace. The special effects are not that great, and it is a little gory. The acting is fair. The title character is lame.
(au) wrote: Intriguing, if a little overdone and oddly paced. The Morricone score is misplaced at times. But all in all an effective and compelling movie.
(fr) wrote: Another one of my top ten films. Totally awesome. If a movie manages to build drama out of an event that already took place, you know they are doing something right. This is a no nonsense film that tries to educate in dramatic fashion. Aside from Kevin Costner, a great cast with terrific performances. Bruce Greenwood is a terribly underrated actor. He's a very convincing JFK. Thankfully his strong performance cancels out Costner's weak one. I can't speak to the historical accuracy of the film, but it has to be very close. It comes across as very authentic and balanced. It doesn't come across as an overly pro or con JFK film, which is a good thing.
(br) wrote: A comedy about improvisation starring Goldie Hawn as a manic pixie dream girl/lying sociopath and Steve Martin as that role Steve Martin played a lot in the '90s before he did kids movies. It's a big hunk of "just fine" - not great, not terrible. But it takes place in a pretty terrific house, so that's something.

Who the hell finds Rodeo films entertaining. And slo-mo bulldozers!? He mustve been really letting the booze and drugs take control around this time.
