Alex A (it) wrote: Afterschool is an ambituous debut for writer/director Antonio Campos (who was only 24 when he made this movie) with impressive technical features and solid performances from a stellar ensemble cast, but its light on story and thematically shallow which brings the film to the verge of pointlessness. It's clear that Campos has talent, but if he want's to fully realize it he'll have to write better scripts for his future projects to compliment his directorial skill.

Rafael T (br) wrote: Even before Kubrick was breaking grounds in cinema making by his stunning visuals and techniches, he was being radical with the underlying anti-war, anti-establishment content in this Black & white apparently "classic hollywood" executed world war I Drama (which he also wrote, as most of his work). This does not mean that paths of glory isn't matched to his usual near perfect level of movie making, au contraire, it is a glorious film, very well acted, strongly scripted, steadily paced, and flawlessly shooted. Be prepared for an extremely different style from the more familiar Kubrick we've come to know. Paths of glory also features my favorite ever Kirk Douglas performance, one i think was ahead of the era by it's subtle approach. As almost any of Kubrick's work, a movie ahead of its time, and one of the best World War I movies ever made...
