Austin Chick's GIRLS AGAINST BOYS puts a modern twist on the Rape and Revenge film in an unpredictable thriller that echoes the works of Abel Ferrara. Rather than have the victim get dragged in to a dark alley to be raped by some degenerate scumbag, the story gets underway in a contemporary setting, the night club, and deals with the all-too-realistic crime of date rape. This increases the awfulness of the act by creating a situation with which most people can relate. A dark, subversive sense of humor is drawn out of the girls' murderous rampage by Nicole LaLiberte as the psychotic Lu, whose callous disregard for human life makes her a far greater threat than any of the men. Danielle Panabaker is excellent as the quiet girl next door. From victim to vigilante, she creates a natural, believable character in Shae. The punishment doesn't always fit the crime once this deadly pair sets out for their revenge, but it is dealt in quick explosions of bloody gore. When good girls go bad, things get messy in GIRLS AGAINST BOYS.
