Narrated by Ryder's character, Charlotte, Mermaids is simply a fun, humorous movie to watch with the great performances. I thought that there were some too much subplots that restricted full understanding and enjoyment of the film with too much going on but is over a decent movie that you'll likely enjoy.

(gb) wrote: It was okay, but it just ended up all over the place and left me cold in the end. Basically someone murdered a bunch of kids in a school, and so 30 years later a film crew is filming a movie based on the events. And is the killer still in the school?Problem is it doesn't transition very well, as it moves between three different time lines and it does its best to confuse the viewer.Like were any of the kills even real, or just staged? Cause you don't see a certain famous face in the end, so did he really die?And let's just talk about the highlight: seeing a very young George Clooney in a horror film and being the first to bite it! :)Darcy DeMoss also shows up for a few minutes, and even manages to show a boob in said minutes. Wow.The score is actually pretty good. But another awful thing is McCormack. Yes...Marcia Brady is hot, but she is so awful here. I never got that her character was even in the same world as the rest of the film.
(au) wrote: The effects in this film are so out of date that it begs to be remade (which is probably why they are)! The foundation of the story is still good for a few scares. It never reaches any overly impressive heights for the horror genre though.
