Robyn M (jp) wrote: Not worth my time, or a zip. This film not only started off on the wrong foot by putting me off. i was bored and restless to see this film end. All for a black book that shouldn't have been invaded and a insecure girlfriend soon to be former..ex-girlfriend. I can't begin to describe what a disapointment this movie is.. "The little black book" is a lacking, poorly given film that i never wish to watch again.

Joel H (ag) wrote: The murder mystery aspect of In the Heat of the Night plays out like most of the crime dramas on television today. However, the added racial tension in the plot is what sets this movie apart. Even though there's an obvious message about racism in America in this film, it doesn't feel heavy-handed. It's debatable as to whether this was the best film of 1967, but it's certainly a good film.

Matt M (it) wrote: Marlene Dietrich is a Spanish femme fatale who has fun by letting men fall in love with her and making their lives miserable in this film where she teams up once again with von Sternberg. A racy comedy with enjoyable hints of drama and with plenty of room for Dietrich to practice her devilish temptress character.

Steve G (jp) wrote: My one major qualm is that I was hoping for a greater number of immortals congregating in NYC. But really, it was just one extra. That was somewhat disappointing, & anti-climactic. A larger group would have brought greater urgency & intensity to the film, I believe. The sex scene was gratuitous and unnecessary. The last fight could've been better choreographed. Too much foreshadowing (victory music playing before the duel ended?). Apart from these faults, it is a superior movie.Faults can sometimes be overlooked when strengths are so overwhelming.I completely bought into the whole mythos of it. What seemed like a confusing juxtaposition of settings at first, became a wonderful parallel in time. The notion of living through generations for some future goal enraptured me. The annoying NYC woman wasn't my favorite, among other lesser quibbles, but this was more about the journey. And it was a fantastic one.
