(gb) wrote: It's an obviously very cheap and simplistic movie, but yet, it's an interesting and tense one with a very good cast, and a very surprising twist ending. I does tip more towards drama, rather than a horror-thriller near the end, but it doesn't matter too much, because you'll be focusing a lot on the ending. The film also revolves much more on tension than gore, which there's very little of. Recommended !!

(de) wrote: ok what is up with the new horors that make fun of the old ones? I have news they are for nonexspericed teens that I guess is what they wanna put out now a hol-a-lota crap that the teens have to go see! I say turn back the clock this chap ain't workin for me!

Polanski's first english language film, the timeless blonde beauty in Catherine Deneuve resonates brightly even in black and white, yet the ugliness of the story and set contrast her appearance perfectly. Bleak and unforgiving, Repulsion is a desolate venture in the mindset of a "virgin's dreams". Really terrifying and has definitely stood the test of time.

(mx) wrote: I was going to give this a big rotten review due to the first half being so overdrawn and incredibly boring! I enjoy build-up, but this took way too long and had nothing going for it until the last half where the movie begins to finally come together and keep my attention. Maybe I expected too much, but the acting was above average and watching this for the last 45 minutes made things worthwhile.
(es) wrote: The plot here is not as overwrought as in the novel, but it's still implausible, and Jean Gabin simply isn't convincing as a homocidal maniac. Nice trains, though.

Here his love affair with Lois Lane continues and she discovers his true identity. Superman also battles three villains from his home planet of Krypton who escape their interstellar prison.

I kept laughing through the film and I couldn't get enough of the funny appearances by Stanley Tucci's Muerte. The script has the right doses of comedy, drama, thrilling action and cues. The score is forgettable but it provides the right action cues.I would have thought the Tomatometer would have at least registered a 60% but most critics are asinine couch film directors who think they could've done a better job. However, there's no account for tastes. Dorothy Rabinowitz (Wall Street Journal) thinks Jerry Seinfeld is the greatest TV sitcom in the universe, but I just never enjoyed it (same as the bland Friends comedy from the 90s). One thing of note: K Turner started to develop a serious illness during shooting (multiple sclerosis, I think) but she was a trooper and attested to the great support she received during the filming. As for Stanley Tucci, he has made a great career for himself. Back in 1993, he was an unknown (to me, at least), but he showed such comedic chops, aided by a well-crafted script. This is one of several underappreciated spy capers, to be fully enjoyed by a large swath of the population, especially families and kids. 23 years later, and I still enjoy watching it.
